Choose the grid by the profile effect you want.

Choose the layout by how many rows you want to fill, whether you need portrait tiles, and how much of your profile one image should cover. The ZIP keeps the posting order clear before you upload each tile.

Preview placement first, then follow the ZIP order.

The visual position and the upload order are opposite ideas: users see the finished grid from top-left to bottom-right, but Instagram needs the oldest tile first. That is why the ZIP starts from the bottom-right tile.

  1. Check the mock profile preview before exporting so the main subject is not split awkwardly.
  2. Use zoom and horizontal or vertical position controls when faces, text, or products sit near a tile edge.
  3. Download the ordered ZIP after the preview looks right; the filenames include the upload sequence.
  4. Post tile 01 first and continue by number until the top-left visual tile is posted last.

Design the grid around the campaign, not just the crop.

Strong Instagram grid tools explain the result before asking for a download. These scenarios help users choose a layout that matches the post series they are planning.

  • Product launch

Use 3 x 4 portrait tiles when you want a taller reveal that occupies more of the visible profile.

  • Portfolio wall

Use 3 x 5 when a designer, photographer, or artist wants a longer visual story across several rows.

  • Classic reveal

Use 3 x 3 square tiles for a familiar campaign mosaic that is easier to plan and repost.

Check the grid before publishing all tiles.

Use the preview and ZIP order to check that the finished profile will look the way you planned.

  • Keep the main subject away from profile edges where Instagram UI may crop or distract.
  • Use Show posting order before exporting if the grid will be posted manually.
  • Use Crop for full-bleed visuals and Fit when no part of the design can be cut off.
  • Open the ZIP and post tile 01 first; the top-left visual tile should be posted last.

Frequently asked questions

What layout should I use for Instagram now?

Start with 3 x 4 portrait tiles when you want a taller profile preview, and switch to 3 x 3 square if your account still needs the classic grid look.

Why does the ZIP start with the bottom-right tile?

Instagram places newer posts before older posts, so posting from bottom-right to top-left preserves the final image on your profile.

Does this upload my image to a server?

No. The preview and tile exports are generated locally in your browser with canvas.

How do I know where each image tile goes?

Use the profile preview before exporting. It shows the final grid position, while the numbered ZIP filenames show the posting order.

Should I export 3:4, 4:5, or square tiles?

Use 3:4 portrait tiles for profile-style grids, 4:5 when you want feed portrait panels, and square tiles for the classic 1:1 Instagram grid look.
